If you like pickles, you'll love this recipe. This recipe yields 1 jar of pickles and it's ready in 1-3 hours.
Many of the pickles found in the grocery store contain high fructose corn syrup, dyes and preservatives. My recipe contains no preservatives and is re-fined sugar free
Here is an examples of the ingredient list in store-bought pickles...
If you want to avoid preservations, dyes and HCFS, this recipe is for you:
What you'll need:
1 large organic Cucumber or 2 small Cucumbers (around 12 oz total)
1/2 cup room temp filtered water
1/2 cup organic Rice Vinegar
1 and 1/2 tablespoons organic Maple Syrup
1 and 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
1/4 organic Red Pepper Flakes
2 sprigs of chopped organic fresh Dill
1 Bay Leaf
2 cloves organic Garlic, peeled
Directions:
Slice the cucumber rounds into thin rounds, about 1/8-inch thick.
In a measuring cup or bowl, combine the water, vinegar, maple syrup, salt and red pepper flakes. Stir until most of the salt seems dissolved in the liquid.
Place the cucumber slices into a wide-mouth mason jar.
Pour the liquid contents over the cucumbers--they should be fully submerged. Top with Dill and Garlic and tuck the Bay Leaf into the side.
Refrigerate 1--3 hours, the flavor will increase with time.
